In response to the U.S. sanctions imposed over the Ukraine war, Russia has implemented a ban on the entry of hundreds of U.S. citizens, including former President Obama, political commentator Rachel Maddow, and late-night host Stephen Colbert.

The Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry announced on its website on Friday that it has barred the entry of 500 Americans as a retaliatory measure against the sanctions, which it believes are intended to cause significant harm to Russian officials and civilians.

The ban on entry into Russian territory for the designated individuals reflects the escalating tensions between the two countries in the aftermath of the Ukraine conflict. The Russian government’s action is seen as a direct response to the sanctions imposed by the U.S., which have targeted key individuals and entities in Russia.
