- If McCarthy gets through a final floor vote in January, he will become speaker of the House.
- “He’s a very weak leader of his conference,” Schiff said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.”
- Schiff suggested McCarthy will bend to the political whims of firebrand Georgia GOP Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene, whom some consider to be unofficial leader of their conferences most conservative, MAGA-inspired caucus.
-
“He will adhere to the wishes of the lowest common denominator,” Schiff added when asked about McCarthy’s plan to remove him from the Intelligence committee. “And if that lowest common denominator wants to remove people from committees…that’s what they’ll do.”
- “It’s going to be chaos with Republican leadership,” Schiff also said.
