Schiff Mum On Whether J6 Panel Voting On Criminal Referrals For Trump

California Democrat Sen. Adam Schiff on Sunday declined to discuss the specifics of the J6 panel's criminal referrals that will be announced Monday. But Schiff made clear that he believes former President Trump broke the law.

  • Schiff made the comments Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” following reports Friday the Jan. 6 select committee will vote Monday on criminal referrals in connection with its probe.
  • The committee will make the referrals to the Justice Department, with Trump reportedly among those on which the panel will vote.
  • “I think that the evidence is there that Donald Trump committed criminal offenses in connection with his efforts to overturn the election,” Schiff said Sunday.
  • He also said: “Viewing it as a former prosecutor, I think there’s sufficient evidence to charge the president.”
