“I think it’s something we have to look at to see why did it happen,” Scott said.
- Roughly half of all storm-related deaths in Florida are reportedly in Lee County, which reported 35 fatalities on Saturday.
- The total death toll in the state has ranged from about 48 to as high as 77.
- Lee County, which includes Fort Myers and Cape Coral, reportedly did not issue a mandatory evacuation order until Tuesday morning for the areas expected to be hardest hit, while other counties had already issued such orders.
