- A bipartisan duo in the Senate aims to tackle immigration reform before the new Congress next year and has revived negotiations for a possible deal.
- Senators Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) agreed to a draft framework, which is still subject to change as the talks are in the very early stages.
- The loose framework presently includes a pathway to citizenship for two million Dreamers; approximately $25 billion to $40 billion in increased funding for Border Patrol and border security; an extension of Title 42 until a plan is enacted to stop the migrant surge at the border; and an overhaul of the asylum system.
