September Border Encounter Figures Not Yet Released By CBP

  • As of Thursday evening, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has not released the total number of border encounters for the month of September.
  • The agency’s “monthly operational update,” which includes the southwest border encounter numbers, is usually released in the middle of the month.
  • CBP released the June figures on July 16, the July figures on August 13, and the August figures – which recorded a record year-to-date 2,150,639 encounters – on September 19.
  • The border encounter figures for September will be the final CBP update before the November 8 election.
