State Farm And Progressive Refuse To Cover Kia, Hyundai Models Due To Theft

Certain 2015 to 2019 models are seen as too easy to steal

  • State Farm and Progressive, two of the biggest car insurers in the United States, are not issuing policies in certain cities for some Hyundai and Kia models that are seen as easy targets for criminals.
  • A report by the Highway Loss Data Institute found that certain Hyundai and Kia models from 2015 through 2019 are about two times more likely to be stolen than other vehicles made during the same time.
  • The increased likelihood of theft is due to an issue with the vehicles’ computer chips and their key fobs.
