Staten Island Residents Block Migrant Bus, 10 Arrested

  • Incensed Staten Island residents took to the streets on Tuesday evening to physically impede the arrival of an MTA bus transporting asylum seekers to a recently converted shelter.
  • This act of protest disrupted traffic shortly before 10 p.m. when the demonstrators intercepted the bus en route to the former Island Shores senior assisted living facility. Video footage captured the group expressing their dismay, with some individuals banging on the sides of the bus.
  • New York City has received more than 100,000 migrants since the previous year. In the aftermath of the incident, law enforcement authorities reported the apprehension of 10 individuals, nine of whom were issued summons for disorderly conduct.
