Study: Increase In Teen Vaping First Thing In Morning

- In a study of middle and high schoolers in the U.S., the number of teens using an e-cigarette within five minutes of waking up rose to 10.3 percent from 2017 to 2021.
- Comparatively, less than 1 percent of teens vaped within five minutes of waking up between 2014 and 2017.
- “This increase in intensity may reflect increasing use of nicotine for self-medication in response to increases in adolescent depression, anxiety, tic disorders, and suicidality that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic,” the researchers said.
