The 2026 Golden Globes is pressing play on a new group.
While the 83rd annual ceremony will continue its tradition of spotlighting shows and movies on the big and small screens, it will now also recognize projects on an even smaller screen: podcasts.
After all, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Call Her Daddy, Good Hang with Amy Poehler, Smartless, The Mel Robbins Podcast, and NPR’s Up First were named as nominees in the inaugural Best Podcast category for the Jan. 11 award show.
Indeed, ahead of the event hosted by Nikki Glaser, the Golden Globes Foundation announced its decision to add a new category that reflects the current media landscape. (See all the nominations here.)
“As the world of entertainment continues to evolve, we are excited to recognize new forms of storytelling,” President Helen Hoehne shared in the May press release. “Podcasts have emerged as a profound medium for sharing narratives and building communities across global borders and generations.”
