Supreme Court Begins New Term Facing Key Issues Of Abortion, Guns, Social Media

- The Supreme Court begins a new term Monday with a docket that includes cases on such major issue as gun rights, the power of federal agencies, social media regulation and a dispute over the availability of an abortion pill.
- The first case for the justices – six conservatives and three liberals – is a dispute from Iowa involving the sentencing of a non-violent drug offender.
- The first major case is set for Tuesday, when justices will consider the first of at least three disputes that could result in new limits on the authority of regulatory agencies – a longstanding goal for many U.S. conservatives and business interests.
