- In August 2021, Kristopher Baca, then 15 years old, was arrested for mowing down a mother and her baby in a hit-and-run incident in Los Angeles. The victims survived.
- Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón didn’t prosecute Baca; rather, he was placed in a five-month “diversionary program.” Baca’s record would have been wiped clean at age 18.
- Baca didn’t make it to 18. He was gunned down in Palmdale, Calif., while walking home earlier this week.
