A Nov. 5, 2020 text thread between Fox News’ Tucker Carlson and news anchor Bret Baier, immediately following the 2020 election, sheds light on the pressure they felt and possible loss of their audience if their election coverage proved faulty.
“We could really f*ck up a lot of what we’ve built,” Carlson texted, to which Baier replied, “I totally agree,” adding that he was “taking major incoming.”
A big point of contention was Fox’s early call of Arizona for Biden, despite just a 0.3% margin. Baier indicated he wasn’t comfortable with the Arizona call, and said “I have pressured them to slow” their call on Nevada.
