TEXAS — Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing an out-of-state provider over allegedly mailing abortion-inducing medication to Texas residents.
The lawsuit alleges Delaware-based nurse practitioner Debra Lynch routinely mailed abortion pills mifepristone and misoprostol to residents in Texas, including Beaumont, Fulshear, Tomball, Houston and El Paso.
Lynch is the founder of Her Safe Harbor, a telehealth abortion provider based in Delaware, where a shield law is in place protecting people like Lynch from out-of-state legal action.
Paxton accuses Lynch of violating the Human Life Protection Act and the Texas Health & Safety Code and Texas Occupations Code.
Texas’ abortion laws are some of the most restrictive in the country, with House Bill 7’s passage last year allowing private citizens to sue anyone involved in making or providing abortion pills to or from the state.
