Third Whitmer Kidnapping Trial Starts

- Defendants Paul Bellar, Joe Morrison and father-in-law Pete Musico – are charged in connection with gang membership and providing material support for terrorist acts.
- Each charge carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.
- They defendants also face gun charges.
- Court records say Morrison started the Wolverine Watchmen group via a Facebook page in November 2020 ,which the state says augmented an alliance including alleged kidnap plot ringleaders Adam Fox and Barry Croft.
- In August, Croft and Fox were convicted on federal charges of kidnapping conspiracy and conspiring to obtain and use weapons of mass destruction.
- Two others, Ty Garbin and Kaleb Franks, pleaded guilty in federal court, and two other men were acquitted.
