Trump Calls On All Senate Democrats To Resign Over Bob Menendez Indictment

  • Former President Donald Trump has called for the resignation of all Senate Democrats in the wake of the federal indictment against Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) last week. Trump contends that all Senate Democrats were aware of the alleged bribes Menendez is accused of accepting.
  • The indictment, which was unsealed on Friday, alleges that Menendez and his wife were involved in a corrupt relationship with New Jersey businessmen Wael Hana, Jose Uribe, and Fred Daibes, who purportedly provided the senator with bribes amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars. According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), these bribes were meant to secure protection for the businessmen and benefit Egypt.
  • Menendez could potentially face a maximum prison sentence of 45 years if convicted on charges including conspiracy to commit bribery, conspiracy to commit honest services fraud, and conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right.
