Former President Donald Trump plans some Iowa counter-programming to steal the spotlight from his main 2024 rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
DeSantis is scheduled to headline an annual fundraiser that Rep. Randy Feenstra is hosting on May 13 in northwest Iowa. In addition, DeSantis will speak that night on the other side of the state at a Cedar Rapids fundraiser.
Enter Trump, who plans to hold a rally in downtown Des Moines at the Lauridsen Amphitheater at Water Works Park. The rally at 7 p.m. Central time, around the same time as DeSantis’s speaking gig on May 13, virtually guarantees major coverage on the cable channels for Trump, largely drowning out his rival’s message.Click to read full article
