Trump Nominates Ronald Johnson As Ambassador To Mexico

President-elect Donald Trump announced his nomination of Ronald Johnson, a former ambassador to El Salvador, as the next U.S. ambassador to Mexico on Tuesday night.

Johnson, a seasoned Army veteran and former CIA official, served as the U.S. envoy to El Salvador from 2019 to 2021.

During his tenure, Johnson collaborated closely with Salvadoran authorities and U.S. officials to address violent crime and illegal migration, achieving historic reductions in both areas.

“During my First Term, Ron served as the Ambassador to El Salvador, where he worked tirelessly with Salvadoran authorities and our team to reduce violent crime and illegal migration to the lowest levels in History,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump emphasized the critical role Johnson will play in combating migrant crime and curbing the illegal flow of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs into the United States.

“Congratulations Ron. Together, we will put an end to migrant crime, stop the illegal flow of Fentanyl and other dangerous drugs into our Country and, MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN!” he added.
