President Trump called Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) a “racist” on Wednesday evening, in a continuation of his long-standing feud with California’s top official.
The president reacted to a comment Newsom made during a stop on his book tour last month, calling it “the most self-destructive interview I’ve ever seen” in a Truth Social post.
“In one fell swoop, he took himself out of even being considered as the Presidential Nominee of the Crazy (as proven at the State of the Union Address) Democrats,” Trump said of the governor, who is widely considered a top choice for the Democratic presidential ticket in 2028.
In a sit-down conversation with Atlantaa Mayor Andre Dickens to promote his memoir, “Young Man in a Hurry,” Newsom told the crowd, “I’m not trying to impress you. I’m just trying to impress upon you, I am like you.
“I am no better than you,” he continued. “I am a 960 SAT guy. And I’m not trying to offend anyone, [or] act all there if you got 940. But literally a 960 SAT guy. You have never seen me read a speech, because I cannot read a speech.”
