Turkey Winds Down Earthquake Survivor Rescue Phase
Search-and-rescue teams were still finding survivors as many as 10 days after the Feb. 6 that hit Turkey and Syria.

- As of Sunday, about 12 days after the quake, Turkey ended most of its search and rescue operations, the country’s disaster management authority said.
- Among such efforts still in operation are those in 40 buildings in the country’s Kahramanmaraş and Hatay provinces,
- On Saturday, a couple and their 12-year-old child were rescued in Hatay, 296 hours after the earthquake. However. the child later died.
- The death toll has now exceeded 46,000.
