  • The typical U.S. household spends just over $24,000 on bills per year, according to a report released Monday by the online bill pay service Doxo.
  • that figure has gone up about 6 percent from the prior year and amounts to roughly a third of 2021’s median U.S. household income of $70,784.
  • As measured by the consumer price index, inflation rose 8.3 percent in August from the prior year and 0.1 percent from July, according to Labor Department data released in mid-September.
