U.S. Marine Corps Base Opens On Guam

  • For the first time in 70 years, the U.S. Marine Corps opened a new base on Thursday.
  • The new base, officially known as Camp Blaz, is located on the island of Guam, which sits in the middle of Japan and Taiwan.
  • The 4,000-acre base will house about 5,000 Marines and opens as the U.S. is seeking to reorganize its troop presence in the Pacific and increase deterrence against China.
