- NYC Mayor Eric Adams sent out a panicky email to City Council members and staff as NYC braces for the end of Title 42, a Trump-era policy that allowed officials to more quickly expedite people caught crossing the border illegally.
- “Please be advised that due to the lifting of Title 42 later this week, the City is expecting a higher amount of asylum seeker buses beginning today with 2 buses today and 10-15 more expected in the next two days. We have diligently advocated for support from our Federal & State partners as we cannot continue to address this issue alone,” read the email obtained by the New York Post.
- Adams then stressed that NYC had been advised to expect 1,000 illegal immigrants every single week once Title 42 ends. “We need help from Washington,” Adams said at a Sunday evening Hanukkah candle lighting ceremony.
