Winter Storm Cancels Over 1,600 Flights

More than 6,000 flight delays registered

  • On January 31, a winter storm raging through the middle part of the U.S. caused more than 1,600 flight cancellations, as of 4:01 a.m. ET.
  • Southwest Airlines canceled 319 flights, making up nearly 20 percent of total cancellations, followed by American Airlines with 308 cancellations, China Eastern with 138 cancellations, and Lion Air with 111 cancellations.
  • Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in Texas canceled 288 flights, with Austin-Bergstrom International and Dallas Love Field Airport also having dozens of cancellations.
