- Minnesota Rep. Tom Emmer is battling with Indian’s Jim Banks and Georgia’s Drew Ferguson to become the next Republican whip in the House.
- Emmer, however, might have the most interesting and controversial background. He used to be the spokesman for the National Popular Vote initiative, launched in 2006 effectively to eliminate the Electoral College.
- That effort was funded by the family of Democrat mega-donor George Soros.
- “Emmer is supposed to be the guy who helps us win elections and cares a lot about the party,” a Republican member of Congress who does not support Emmer told The Post on the condition of anonymity. “This is going to cause issues for him inside the conference.”
