Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with King Charles III on Sunday, just two days after the Ukrainian president’s explosive exchange with President Trump in the Oval Office.
The meeting, which took place at Sandringham House, came ahead of the European summit, which Britain was hosting in an effort to shore up support for Zelensky in the wake of the dramatic episode that unfolded in the Oval Office on Friday on live television.
The royal family’s account on the social media platform X posted a photo of the king with Zelensky, shaking hands with each other.
“This evening, His Majesty The King received the President of Ukraine, @ZelenskyyUa, at Sandringham House,” the post read, along with the photo. The message ended with an emoticon of the Ukrainian flag.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with Zelensky on Saturday, embracing the president of the war-torn country upon his arrival.
Starmer pledged unwavering support for Ukraine, saying the U.K. would stand with Ukraine as long as it takes.
