- The media has been shamelessly gushing over Joe Biden’s trip to Kyiv, Ukraine, on Monday, desperately trying to push the trip as a historic moment rather than a shameless publicity stunt.
- “Mr. Biden arrived early Monday morning to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky after a 10-hour overnight train ride through Ukraine, and the two stepped out into the streets of Kyiv even as an air-raid siren sounded,” the New York Times reported. “a dramatic moment that underscored the investment the United States has made in Ukraine’s independence.”
- According to CNN’s Alex Marquardt, who’d been on the ground in Kyiv for nearly a week, the air-raid siren only started going off when Biden was in town.
- “I’ve been here for the past five days. I have not heard any explosions,” Marquardt said. “I have not heard any air sirens, until about half an hour ago, right when Joe Biden was in the center of Kyiv.”
