Ex-Maryland GOP Gov. Hogan Won’t Seek Party Presidential Nomination

Hogan previously said he would not run for president in 2024 if it would help former President Trump win the nomination.

  • Hogan defied odd by becoming governor of blue state Maryland in 2016 and also won a second term in 2020.
  • Hogan won in large part because voters were tired of  tax imposed by preceding Gov. Martin O’Malley, a Democrat who ran unsuccessfully ran for president in 2016.
  • “It was a tough decision, but I have decided that I will not be a candidate for the Republican nomination for president,” Hogan told CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”
