New York, Chicago Rank Top Cities Americans Are Fleeing

According to recent population estimates released by the U.S. Census, Chicago maintains its position as the third most populous city in the nation. However, it ranked second in terms of the total number of individuals departing from the city limits.

The data highlights significant population growth in towns located in Texas and California. Georgetown, Texas, recorded the highest growth rate at 14.4%. Notably, the nine cities experiencing the fastest growth were predominantly located in the southern region of the country, with six of them being in Texas.

While New York remains the national leader in population size, it experienced a loss of 123,104 individuals based on the latest data. Chicago, on the other hand, holds the third-largest population but emerged as the second-highest in terms of the total number of people leaving the city, with nearly 33,000 departures.
