- Paxton, a Republican, was immediately suspended from office after the GOP-controlled Texas House on Saturday voted overwhelmingly in favor of impeaching him.
- The state Senate on Monday unanimously adopted a measure calling for the trial to begin no later than Aug. 28.
- Paxton is being investigated for alleged ethical and criminal violations.
