• Former President Donald Trump will face a politically motivated federal indictment, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said on Monday.
• In making the prediction, Cruz argued Attorney General Merrick Garland has a personal score to settle, motivated in part by a hatred of Trump as well as bitterness toward Republicans after they denied him the opportunity to serve on the Supreme Court years ago in a Senate confirmation standoff.
• “Mark my words: I believe Merrick Garland will indict Donald Trump,” Cruz said during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity. “He wants to indict Donald Trump because he hates Donald Trump. He hates him. He’s angry. Merrick Garland is angry that he wasn’t confirmed to the Supreme Court.”
