- Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall said the service may fall short of its 2023 recruitment goal, which was barely met in 2022.
- “We are currently projecting about a 10% shortfall this year in the active Air Force and more in the Guard and Reserve,” Kendall said. “We are swimming upstream against reduced propensity to serve nationally across the board and a limited percentage of qualified candidates.”
- To boost recruitment last year, all branches of service lowered standards for entry, including required physical and mental standards.
