American Depression Levels Hit All-Time High

According to a recent Gallup poll, levels of lifetime and current depression among Americans have reached record highs this year.

The poll, published on Wednesday, reveals that 29% of Americans reported experiencing depression at some point in their lives. Additionally, the current depression rate stands at 18%. These figures represent the highest levels recorded in Gallup’s polling data. The data also indicates a notable increase in depression levels since the onset of the pandemic.

Comparing data from 2019 to the present, the lifetime depression rate rose from 21.6% to 28.6%. Similarly, the rate of current depression steadily climbed from 12.5% in 2019 to the current figure of 17.8%.
