Arctic Blast Slams South With Snow And Ice

A major winter storm has caused chaos across the southern United States, with over 1,500 flights canceled on Monday. Denver, Dallas, Houston, and Chicago airports have been hit the hardest by the extreme weather.

Residents in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Alabama have already received 4 to 6 inches of snowfall. Throughout Monday, the snow is set to continue to fall across major cities such as San Antonio, Little Rock, Memphis, and Nashville.

Memphis experienced the worst effects of the storm on Sunday, with record snowfall reported. Schools near Nashville have closed on Tuesday due to the bad weather, and San Antonio has a winter storm warning in effect.

As the day progresses, an icy mix is forecasted to move into southern Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and northern Georgia at night. Wind chill alerts have been issued in 26 states, including from the U.S.-Canada border in Montana to the Rio Grande in Texas along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The central and Deep South regions, which span from Nebraska to Texas and east to Mississippi, are set to experience record cold temperatures over the next couple of days. Then, after a brief spell of moderation in wind chills, another cold blast is expected to hit the nation at the end of the week. The temperature is forecasted to drop below zero degrees in Chicago by Thursday and Friday.

The National Weather Service has urged residents in affected areas to take extra precautions and stay indoors if possible. Drivers have also been advised to be cautious on the roads, with many already treacherous. As the storm progresses, further complications may arise, and it is essential that people remain vigilant and informed about weather updates.
