California’s San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced Monday that arrests have been made in connection with the killings of six people found shot to death in the desert last week.
The victims were discovered last Tuesday evening when sheriff’s deputies responded to a wellness check in a desert, off U.S. Highway 395 in the community of El Mirage.
Although officials did not release details about how the victims died, video footage from news stations showed one vehicle on the scene riddled with bullet holes and the bodies had gunshot wounds.
The sixth victim was discovered during the investigation and officials initially said five bodies were found.
Officials described the location of the crime scene as a desolate area, littered with cardboard, rubber tires, and broken bottles.
The law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security have been involved in the investigation.
