- House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Sunday that he and President Joe Biden will meet in person Monday to discuss raising the nation’s debt limit, amid slow-moving negotiations.
- The announcement also came as Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warns the U.S. will default on debt if a deal is not reach by early next month.
- McCarthy and Biden spoke by phone as the president was flying back from a trip to Japan for a G7 summit and which he suggest to world leaders the GOP is making so un-negotiable proposals in the deal.
