A devastating occurrence unfolded when three friends, identifiable supporters of the Kansas City Chiefs, were found lifeless in a residential backyard under chilling circumstances.

Ricky Johnson Jr., age 38, David Harrington, 37, and Clayton McGeeney, 36, tragically lost their lives to the harsh winter elements. The startling discovery was made at the residence of Jordan Willis on January 9th, two days after the trio gathered there to watch an NFL match between the Chiefs and the Raiders.

In the aftermath of the gruesome finding, Linda Johnson, the stepmother of Ricky Johnson Jr., faced the harrowing task of identifying her stepson’s body. Due to the bodies being frozen, officials informed her that they required time to defrost before identification could proceed, a process expected to span several days.

Venturing beyond normal protocols, Johnson, determined for closure, contacted the medical examiner. She provided descriptions of her stepson’s distinctive tattoos and piercings, which led to a sorrowful confirmation over the phone.

The initial investigation by local police swiftly excluded any suspicion of foul play, proclaiming that the event would not be investigated as a triple homicide. This quick assessment was met with discontent and distress among the victims’ families, prompting further demand for clarity.

Reassurance came when the bereaved relatives were able to converse with the Platte County prosecutors. Johnson described the meeting as productive, expressing that it provided the families with confidence that the case would receive a thorough examination.
