Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s ex-wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, entered a new relationship with Ottawa pediatric surgeon Dr. Marcos Bettolli several months prior to publicly announcing their separation, as reported by Canada’s National Post.

According to divorce papers filed by Bettolli’s ex-wife, Ana Remonda, in April, Bettolli had “re-partnered” with a high-profile individual who attracts significant media attention and presents security considerations, with the National Post identifying Grégoire Trudeau as the individual in question.

Remonda, in her court filings, expressed concerns about potential security risks to their children stemming from Bettolli’s new relationship and sought court intervention to safeguard their privacy and protection.

While acknowledging Bettolli’s new relationship, Remonda claimed to have no position on the matter. Bettolli countered by asserting that Remonda’s stance was not in the children’s best interests and alleged that she had threatened to return to their native Argentina if his new relationship became public.

The divorce between Bettolli and Remonda was finalized in January 2020, and the allegations made in the court documents remain unverified.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Trudeau’s office confirmed in August that he and his wife had already reached a legal agreement regarding their separation.
