During Thursday’s live broadcast, CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer encountered a moment of indisposition, prompting an unexpected shift to a commercial break. The incident occurred while Blitzer, the host of CNN’s “The Situation Room,” engaged in a discussion with Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin, a member of the U.S. House Oversight Committee.

Raskin was elaborating on a controversy in Colorado regarding former President Donald Trump’s election ballot status, when Blitzer exhibited visible discomfort. Audiences observed that the veteran news anchor appeared to be struggling to maintain composure on the live feed.

Following several seconds where Blitzer was seen attempting to suppress physical illness, CNN transitioned to a full-screen image of Raskin to allow him to complete his statement. However, the broadcast was abruptly interrupted by the sounds akin to someone vomiting before cutting to a commercial break, an occurrence that was initially highlighted by online media outlet Mediaite.

Upon return from the brief intermission, CNN’s chief legal affairs correspondent Paula Reid was present in the studio, taking over anchor responsibilities for the remainder of the broadcast. Blitzer did not resume his role for the evening segment which extended until 6 p.m. The sudden switch prompted viewers to express their concern on various social media platforms, while others humorously commented on the dialogue that preceded Blitzer’s apparent discomfort.

CNN delivered a brief statement to Will Sommer, a media reporter for the Washington Post, confirming that Blitzer “wasn’t feeling 100%” during Thursday’s nightly programming.

Following his show, Blitzer took to X to assure viewers: “I’m fine! Thanks for the well wishes. I’ll see you back in the Situation Room soon.”

Online wags quipped that “Raskin’s LIES are enough to make anyone vomit.”
