A street confrontation turned violent when two police officers were assaulted on West 42nd Street in Manhattan over the weekend. The incident took place near the bustling Times Square area around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Initial video evidence shows the officers engaging with a group of individuals, instructing them to disperse from the location. The situation escalated quickly as a physical altercation ensued with one of the individuals, leading to him being taken to the ground by the officers. It was at this juncture that the remainder of the group began a violent assault on the officers, delivering kicks to both their heads and bodies while they attempted to restrain their associate.

Following the clash, the group fled from the scene down 42nd Street towards Seventh Avenue. Law enforcement was swift to respond, and four suspects were apprehended shortly after the incident. The individuals, purportedly seeking asylum, were identified as Darwin Andres Gomez Izquiel, 19; Kelvin Servat Arocha, 19; Juarez Wilson, 21; and Yorman Reveron, 24. Each was charged with assault yet were subsequently released without bail.

A fifth individual, 22-year-old Jhoan Boada, was detained on a later date, facing charges of attempted assault on a police officer, according to statements from police officials.

The case is currently under further investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, as officials consider additional footage and evidence regarding the nature of the attack.

The officers involved suffered minor injuries, with one officer receiving facial lacerations and the other showing signs of bruising. Both officers received immediate medical attention at the scene. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information on the incident to come forward to aid in the ongoing inquiry.
