Crist’s Campaign Manager Resigned After Domestic Violence Arrest

  • Austin Durrer, who had been managing Democrat Charlie Crist’s Florida gubernatorial campaign, was arrested Oct. 18 on a second-degree misdemeanor assault charge following a dispute at his home in Maryland.
  • The Crist campaign announced Oct. 19 that Durrer, 43, had left the campaign to “focus on a family matter.”
  • NBC News reported Oct. 21 that Durrer had been arrested after a dispute with Jackie Whisman, the mother of his child.
  • Amanda Leonard, the prosecutor on the case, told NBC News, “(Whisman) indicated that there had been an argument that had turned physical with the father of her child who is identified as Austin Durrer. There were signs of physical injury to her face, consistent with what she reported.”
