• These woke officials for the 160,000-person city boasted this would be the first ban on meat ads in the world.
• The ads will be banned in public places such as buses, shelters, and screens.
• The Dutch meat industry criticized the ban as censorship and stigmatization of meat eaters. “Banning ads for political reasons is nearly dictatorial,” said Joey Rademaker, a Haarlem councilor for the right-wing BVNL party.
