Former WWE executive Vince McMahon, 78, is facing a federal investigation in connection with sex trafficking allegations brought forth by a former employee, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The investigation, led by the US Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York, follows accusations of sexual misconduct against McMahon by several women.

McMahon reportedly received a grand jury subpoena in the summer, signaling the commencement of the inquiry. The nature of the investigation remains unclear, but it could potentially involve financial aspects, particularly considering previous reports in 2022 that McMahon had settled over $12 million to address sexual misconduct allegations.

Recently, McMahon stepped down from his position at WWE following a lawsuit filed by former employee Janel Grant. In the lawsuit, Grant accused McMahon of subjecting her to “psychological torture and physical violence” while making “depraved sexual demands” for the sake of her continued employment.

The legal action further alleged that McMahon trafficked Grant to other WWE employees, detailing explicit encounters and presenting graphic descriptions alongside explicit text messages.

While McMahon vehemently denies Grant’s allegations, he assured The Wall Street Journal that the ongoing investigation would not reveal any wrongdoing on his part. McMahon directed inquiries to his statement from the previous week. The US Attorney’s office declined to comment on the matter.
