Explosive Device Detonated Outside Alabama Attorney General’s Office

On Saturday, an explosive device was reportedly detonated outside the office of Republican Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall.

No injuries were reported, and no property damage occurred, but an investigation is underway, according to AL.com.

The explosion took place early Saturday morning near the intersection of Washington Avenue and South Bainbridge Street.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Sgt. Jeremy Burkett stated that the State Bureau of Investigation was notified about the explosion around 8:19 am Monday.

Troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) assigned to the Protective Services Division, along with special agents from ALEA’s Hazardous Device Unit, ATF agents, and Montgomery police, responded to the scene. They determined that the suspicious package was an explosive device that had been detonated early Saturday.

Marshall issued a statement, saying, “In the early hours of Saturday, February 24, an explosive device was detonated outside of the Alabama Attorney General’s Office building in Montgomery. Thankfully, no staff or personnel were injured by the explosion.”
