Former President Donald Trump’s legal troubles had taken another juicy turn amidst sensational allegations of scandalous behavior.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was accused of hiring her former lover to oversee the prosecution of Trump and financially benefit from the arrangement. According to a court filing, Special prosecutor Nathan Wade, a private attorney, was paid approximately $654,000 in legal fees by Fulton County since January 2022, some of which he used to pay for luxurious vacations with Willis.

The court filing was brought by former Trump campaign official Michael Roman, who wants Willis, Wade, and all members of the DA’s office disqualified from the Trump case. The filing claimed that the pair was “engaged in an improper, clandestine personal relationship during the pendency of this case, which has resulted in the special prosecutor, and, in turn, the district attorney, profiting significantly from this prosecution at the expense of the taxpayers.”

The document cited “information obtained outside of court filings” that showed the funds given by Fulton County were used for extravagant vacations to Florida, California, the Caribbean, and two cruise lines. The filing also alleged that Wade and Willis had been seen together in private in Atlanta and were believed to have lived together in a place owned by neither of them. The alleged romantic relationship was said to have started while Wade was married.

The allegations have created a storm for the Prosecutor’s Office in administering justice that will only add to the tumult created by a highly politically charged case. The allegations come at a critical juncture as the DA’s office is expected to bring the Trump case to court. The filings also accused the pair of using the Trump case to advance their personal interests, which could cast doubts over the prosecution’s objectivity.

Willis stated she has no comment regarding the allegations, while Wade’s law firm disputed the claims of a personal relationship. Despite these denials, the case is being closely watched due to the personalities involved and the high stakes. Critics of the Trump case have already raised doubts over its legal and factual basis, and the allegations could only damage the credibility of the prosecution further.
