• Steve Goncalves has started working with private investigators because there were “enough insiders telling us we should be concerned” about the lack of any clear leads in the November murders of his daughter and her three friends.
• “So they’re just inexperienced – and I don’t want anyone making mistakes in my child’s case,” Goncalves said.
• Goncalves suggested younger cops rely on DNA evidence too much, whereas the outside help he’s spoken with has experience solving cases when no DNA evidence was present.
• “We’re trying to give them the benefit of the doubt,” the father said of police investigators. He added that he hopes to be proven wrong and the cops will ultimately “be heroes.”
