FDNY Says Looking Into Staff Booing AG Letitia James But ‘Nobody Is Hunting Anyone’

Letitia James

The New York Fire Department on Sunday pushed back on a news story earlier this weekend about the agency “hunting down” firefighters staffers who booed New York Attorney General Letitia James and shouted, “Trump! Trump! Trump!” during an official event last week.

“Nobody is hunting anyone down,” FDNY spokesman Jim Long told Fox News Digital. “We’re looking into those who clearly broke department regulations. It has nothing to do with politics. It’s about professionalism at an official event held in a house of worship.”

The New York Post first reported that an FDNY chief said in an email the department’s investigations unit was investigating the incident and “will figure out who those members are.”

James led a months-long probe and civil trial against businessman and former President Donald Trump in New York City about his company having allegedly inflated assets.

The trial ended last month with a judge handing down his ruling finding Trump liable for more than $350 million in damages and barring him from operating his business in New York for three years.

The chief also wrote in the email, obtained by The New York Post: “I recommend they come forward. I have been told by the commissioner it will be better for them if they come forward and we don’t have to hunt them down.”
