• Back in 2019, singer Halle Bailey was cast to play the adventurous 16-year-old mermaid, Ariel, in the Disney film, The Little Mermaid. Now the trailer is out and is creating waves on social media.
• It seems young black girls are beside themselves with joy in finding the character of the mermaid with that glorious singing voice which has been played by Halle Bailey.
• In 2019, Disney had received flak for casting a black woman in the role, originally an animated film made in 1989 showing a pretty mermaid with blue eyes and flaming red hair.
