Florida Passes New York In Jobs For First Time

  • Florida isn’t just for retirees anymore.
  • For the first time in at least 40 years, there are more jobs in the Sunshine State than there are in New York, part of the trend of Americans fleeing south to lower-cost states.
  • Florida ended 2022 with 9,578,500 nonfarm jobs, while New York had 9,576,100, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It was the first time in data going back to 1982 that Florida had more workers than New York.
