Former Trump White House advisor and top Republican strategist Kellyanne Conway is leading a campaign to revamp her party’s stance on abortion in the lead-up to the 2024 elections. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Conway outlined the need for the GOP to promote the use of contraception and develop a consensus on the abortion issue.

She stressed the importance of speaking with conviction and compassion and urged pro-lifers to acknowledge that an abortion involves two people – the mother and the child. Conway also highlighted the widespread support for contraceptives, as evidenced by data from recent polls.

Conway met with GOP lawmakers on Capitol Hill this week to discuss her proposals, in the face of increasing abortion-related initiatives in different states, following the Supreme Court’s ruling overturning Roe v. Wade. Democrats have consistently accused GOP lawmakers and candidates of wanting to ban abortion, making the issue a hot topic ahead of the 2024 elections.

To ensure that the Republican Party has a winning strategy in the upcoming election, Conway believes that the party needs to take a different approach to the abortion issue. By promoting the use of contraception and demonstrating compassion towards both the mother and child, Republicans will be able to move forward cohesively.

Conway’s efforts to overhaul her party’s abortion strategy come at a time of deep division on this issue. While some GOP lawmakers want to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion, others have adopted a more moderate stance, believing that it is necessary to appeal to younger, more progressive voters.

Conway’s campaign also highlights the wider efforts of the Republican Party to appeal to a broader range of voters, incorporating previously marginalized groups. As the party looks to expand its appeal beyond a historically conservative base, it will need to adopt new tactics and messaging on a range of issues, including abortion.
